The Scottish Chefs' Conference

Monday 2nd November, Glasgow Thistle Hotel
The Scottish Chefs' Conference has a new venue for 2009, as well as a host of well-known chefs on the demo guestlist. Catering in Scotland provides a preview of what's in store at the Glasgow Thistle on 2nd November…

THE CONFERENCE, now in its fourth year, has established itself as a must-attend event for chefs of all ages, abilities and experience, and principal organiser Willie Pike has made every conceivable effort to ensure this one is a year to remember.
Having attracted the attention of some of the industry's biggest names and most talented stars, plus endorsement and support from a healthy number of prolific suppliers, Pike has set the scene for a memorable day of debate, discussion, networking and world-class demonstrations. 'The Conference was created as a vehicle for motivating and exciting our chefs, inspiring theyoungsters and rekindling the fire in the more seasoned professionals,' he says. 'Some of the world's finest chefs come along to demonstrate their skills while creating a platform for our chefs to broaden their knowledge, techniques and culinary repertoires. Our sponsors and partners have a genuine empathy with the chefs and our profession, and delegates will have the opportunity throughout the conference to interact with the suppliers of cutlery, crockery, training and cutting edge equipment: 'We are extremely grateful to our sponsors for their support in ensuring we continue to have our Annual National Chefs' Conference.'
Pike and his co-organisers also achieved a major goal at last year's event, by inviting each and every Scottish catering college to bring along 10 trainee chefs: 'These trainees are the next generation of chefs, and are fundamental to the future of our profession,' continues Willie. 'We are again inviting the students as free guests of this year's conference, and hope they will be excited and inspired about their chosen profession.'
