Catering in Scotland provides a preview of what to expect at The Main Event in 2009…

With over 1,000 visitors when it premiered last year, The Main Event proved a popular showcase for top quality food, unique venues, cutting edge lighting and staging, and inspired entertainment.
Alison Martin, Head of Events at the Herald & Times Group, visited last year and was impressed with the overall feel of the exhibition: 'We are constantly seeking new and innovative event ideas and this show provided some interesting solutions,' she says. 'Having previously visited similar events in London, I liked the design, atmosphere and range of exhibitors at The Main Event.'

In a similar vein, Arran Moffat from Sound & Vision, exhibited at last year's Main Event: 'It's really important to have a Scottish event tradeshow as it's a good opportunity to meet with potential customers and our competition,' he says. Fran McIntyre, Director of The Main Event, feels that hospitality and events in a corporate marketplace have never been more important: 'Providers of business conferences and other events in Scotland are having to come up with increasingly imaginative ways to capture their slice of the hospitality market,' she says. 'When organising an event, the principal barriers are often where to source information on venues, organisers, entertainment, transport and catering.
'The Main Event's exhibitors will be armed with essential and innovative solutions to all these questions, and will showcase the best of what Scotland has to offer.'

In addition to the theatre program, where industry specialists will offer opinions and expertise on a number of issues, LA Bartenders, Saint Judes and Tenors Incognito will showcase some of the best entertainment options available.

The Main Event takes place at the SECC Glasgow on Thursday 12th March from 9.30am – 5.30pm. To register for free, visit www.themaineventscotland.co.uk.
