Allan Burns to leave Scotland Food & Drink
Allan Burns, the inaugural chairman of Scotland Food & Drink (SF&D), is
stepping down in September marking the completion of his three-year
appointment with the leadership organisation.
'I would like to thank the board for their strength, professionalism and
support over the last three years ,' he said after the announcement.
'Together we have achieved a great deal and Scotland Food & Drink is in the
capable hands of chief executive Paul McLaughlin who leads a young, dynamic
management team to deliver its £12.5 billion target.'
Since its formation, SF&D has worked in partnership with the Scottish
Government to ensure the economic interests of the industry are at the heart
of its plans.
Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead said: 'Allan has played a key role
in achieving significant improvements in the structure of Scotland Food &
Drink, closer collaboration with the industry and impressive delivery in
terms of setting tougher targets and giving Scotland a stronger competitive
edge in lucrative global markets.
'It's clear that the sector is pulling together, showing resilience and
working together to deliver sustainable economic growth. Allan deserves
credit for that, and hands over the baton at an exciting time for the
industry with strong sales of Scottish brands across Great Britain.'
The recruitment of a new chair is underway and should be completed by
September.
