Caterer.com Joins STF in Support of Scottish Tourism

Caterer.com is the latest organisation to join the Scottish Tourism Forum, the independent body which promotes the importance of the tourism industry in Scotland.

The move underlines the company's commitment to the Scottish tourism industry. Ian Burke, Caterer.com's director, said: 'The leisure, travel and tourism sector in Scotland employs 182,000 people but with an average staff turnover of 29%, there's a risk the sector could lose about 53,000 employees a year.
'However, the estimated 20,000 tourism businesses in the country already generate revenues of ?4.2b a year, and this is forecast to increase 50% by 2015.

'For that reason, we have decided to work with the Scottish Tourism Forum, HIT Scotland and Springboard UK to raise awareness of the industry as an employer of choice. We have also opened an office in Glasgow to provide a dedicated resource to assist employers in the sector with their ongoing recruitment needs.'

'To improve its service, Caterer.com has also commissioned research into recruitment and retention across Scotland and will be presenting its findings at ScotHot, which takes place during Scottish Tourism Week at the SECC Glasgow on 2-4 March 2009.
